White House Announces Envision Charlotte to Host Launch of National Envision America Initiative in January, 2016

Charlotte, NC – The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has tapped Envision Charlotte as the model for a national smart cities initiative named Envision America that will launch in the Queen City in January, 2016.

Envision Charlotte also announced that the collaborative initiative had achieved a 16.1% reduction in energy use among its 61 uptown partner buildings as of June 30, 2015.

Envision Charlotte will host the first Envision America innovation workshop in Charlotte, NC in January, 2016. During the workshop, city leaders from selected communities will help diagnose energy, water, air and waste management needs, workshop solutions, and advance city projects with the help of industry and university experts. Ten urban communities will be chosen to participate in the launch workshop. For further details, see www.envisionamerica.org.
