Intergraph Smart Standard Database (SDB) for Hangers and Supports Now Available

LAS VEGAS, June 3, 2015 – Intergraph, the world’s leading provider of enterprise engineering software for the process, power and marine industries, has released Intergraph Smart Standard Database (SDB) for Hangers and Supports, a catalog of dozens of support types with 330 preconfigured rules-based pipe supports and associated fully automated drawing templates for Intergraph Smart 3D, covering multiple industries.

Intergraph Smart SDB for Hangers and Supports significantly reduces configuration costs for company-specific Hangers while providing end-users a sophisticated library of supports that intelligently connect to the surrounding environment so they will update automatically when external factors such as pipe diameter steel size or location change in concert with Smart3D’s intelligent rules and relationships. The intelligent rules and relationships make configuration changes to pipe and steel fast and easy since supports automatically update, eliminating the need to delete and replace supports and greatly reducing cost and the time required for quality assurance/quality control of the model. The supports work with SmartParts, a standardized set of parts specific to hangers and supports within SmartPlant® Enterprise and the free data-driven assemblies already delivered with Smart 3D.

The SDB for Hangers and Support Library is a framework that can be used as delivered or one from which customers can easily develop their own set of standard supports based on pre-existing paper standards. Myung-Su Han, general manager and Engineering IT team leader at HEC based in Seoul, Korea said, “Configuration, extension or changes to the supports can be performed without any programming. Simple data changes in an Excel workbook and a quick administrator upload into the database are all that is necessary to customize these supports.”

The ease of use of this product means content creation training can be completed in only four days. Myung-Su Han added, “The training was very easy to understand and general in nature so that we have a clear understanding of how we can maintain and extend our support library.”

Delivered support types include single and double rod hangers (rigid, variable spring and constant spring), shoes, base supports, slides, guides and stops, U-bolt, strap, dummy leg, trunnion, pipe-to-pipe, gusset, beam-to-beam, box frame and hold downs.

Customers are not required to have SmartPlant Reference Data or the SDB to use this product.
