Lescure Engineers Receives Industry Award for California Water Resource Recovery Efforts
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Feb. 13, 2015—The American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC California) has honored Lescure Engineers, Inc., a provider of civil engineering and land surveying services, with a Small Firm Merit Award, in connection with its prestigious Engineering Excellence Awards, for the company’s work on the Graton Community Services District Water Resource Recovery Facility Upgrade in the town of Graton, Calif.
The intent of the awards is to recognize outstanding achievements in engineering and land surveying projects completed by California firms. The Water Resource Recovery Facility project upgraded an existing wastewater treatment facility to tertiary treatment using a combination of technologies that has resulted in the development of an innovative system designed to eliminate residuals that require further treatment or removal — the first of its kind in the world.
Lescure Engineers designed the process control system to integrate equipment from three manufacturers: Heron Innovators’ Suspended Air Flotation Clarifier; Schreiber’s Packed Media Fuzzy Filter Tertiary Treatment Filter; and Pasteurization Technology Group’s Disinfection System.
The Water Resource Recovery Project has introduced three new technologies to be considered by communities seeking to deliver cost-effective wastewater treatment in the interest of lower sewer service rates. The addition of competing technologies may serve to drive down the capital costs of wastewater treatment in the future.
ACEC California project entries are accepted into one of 12 project categories, and the winners were honored at a banquet in Sacramento. “Every day, these firms work in collaboration with public and private sectors and state and local agencies to help build a better California,” said Brad Diede ACEC California executive director. “It’s with great accolade that we honor their work.”
