Anaheim Opens their Regional Transportation Intermodal Center

ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 2, 2014 – The highly anticipated opening of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center – ARTIC (ARTICinfo.com) – is nearing and all are invited to celebrate by attending the Explore ARTIC Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, December 13 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

When ARTIC opens its doors, guests will experience a transportation center like no other. From its grand entrance, sustainable design and function, and Dine+Shop options, to the ease and convenience of multiple modes of transportation in one location, ARTIC is Orange County’s newest gathering place and signifies the future of transportation is here.

The Explore ARTIC Grand Opening Celebration (ARTICinfo.com/news-events/grand-opening-celebration) will give guests an insider’s view of ARTIC as well as a day of family fun, including interactive activities, displays and self-guided tours. Parking is free. In addition, ARTIC and the Salvation Army are hosting a canned food drive and the community is encouraged to bring items which will be distributed to those in need this holiday season.

Here is what to look forward to at the Explore ARTIC Grand Opening Celebration:

Family-friendly zones

Enjoy live music, food trucks, working miniature train displays, bucket truck rides offered by Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Fire and Police, including Cops4Kids, K9s and the Mounted Equestrian Unit, the Anaheim Library Bookmobile, treats from the Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Ducks fun zone, Angels Baseball, movies in a ‘mini-ARTIC’, crafts, and more.

Transportation information booths

Whether you commute daily or are new to public transportation, ARTIC’s transportation providers will be present to share information on how to get where you need to go. You can also board the vehicles on display to get an idea of your preferred seating location. You’ll see just how easy it is to access any of the 10 modes of transportation (ARTICinfo.com/ride-plan-your-trip) available at ARTIC.

Bicyclists welcome

ARTIC is easily accessed from the Santa Ana River Trail and features bike lockers for daily commuters or weekend enthusiasts. Join the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), The Orange County Wheelmen and The BOBies on Saturday, December 13 for a group bicycle ride along the Santa Ana River Trail to the Grand Opening Event. Dine+Shop

ARTIC will offer convenience for those on-the-go as well as gourmet eats and hand-roasted coffee for those meeting a colleague midday or gathering with friends before or after a local event, concert or game. Self-Guided Tours – win a prize!

Take the self-guided tours of the LEED Platinum designed hub (ARTICinfo.com/about/leed-certification), hosted by the ARTIC designers and builders, and enter to win prizes. Pick up a provided passport card and visit each station to earn a stamp. Game participants must receive a stamp from each of the eight stations to qualify.

  • BuroHappold – Heating, cooling, and the really cool-looking roofing material
  • SWA Group – Landscape design is beautiful and sustainable
  • Group Delta – Delivering a solid foundation (Did you know the crane used for the deep dynamic compaction weighed 110 tons and dropped a 30 ton weight to compact the soil at ARTIC?)

Food Drive
