Faced with climate change alarming reports, can tunnels and underground spaces bring new solutions towards an urban resilient future ?
After San Francisco in 2016, the World Tunnel Congress is organized in Bergen, Norway in 2017, from 12th to 14th June by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) and the Norwegian Tunnelling Society. It will be the occasion to discover the economic and environmental role of tunnels and underground space, in Norway and abroad. Gathering more than 1500 experts and civil engineers it will also be the occasion to present cutting-edge technologies and techniques.
A press conference will notably be organized at the Grieg Hall, Bergen on Monday 12th of June at 2.00pm and will focus on :
– Tunnelling in Norway : economic dynamism and major projects
– New results of the global market survey done by ITA
– Stakes of new membership of Nigerian Tunnelling Association in the ITA
– ITA’s new global positionning
The conference will be followed by a technical tour of Ulriken railway project with tunnel boring machine (TBM) for the new Bergen railway line between Arna and Bergen City.(registration needed)
