USA: Petersen Asphalt Research Conference 2017
Jul 17 – Jul 19 all-day

The 54th Annual Petersen Asphalt Research Conference (July 17 – 19) brings together top researchers, highway officials, producers and others who are working to advance the specification and performance of petroleum asphalts. For over 50 years, research presented and discussed at the Petersen Asphalt Research Conference has led to safer, longer-lasting and more cost-effective highways throughout the world.
What makes the Petersen Asphalt Research Conference unique?
From fundamental research to field trials, the Petersen Conference is the essential forum for sharing and discussing current research now.
Presentations at the Petersen Conference typically precede formal publication by one or two years. Since no conference proceedings are published, researchers may freely share new results, which keeps the Petersen Conference (and participants) at the forefront of the field.
The Conference promotes understanding of how asphalt chemistry, physical properties and interactions affect the performance of asphalt applications throughout their life cycle.
Specifications, testing, instrumentation, methods and technology to improve performance are often introduced here.
Open microphone discussion time is built into each presentation, which keeps sessions engaging, participatory, and valuable for audience members and presenters alike.
This conference is a must for highway materials specialists, additives producers, roofing manufacturers and anyone else whose job depends on knowing how asphalts will perform in a given application over time.
The genial atmosphere at the conference further contributes to opportunities for learning and networking.
The Petersen Conference will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn and University of Wyoming Conference Center in Laramie.
The conference includes a Welcome Reception Sunday evening, Continental breakfast Monday through Wednesday, lunch on Monday and Tuesday, dinner on Tuesday, and snacks and beverages at all breaks. Guests of conference participants are welcome to attend Tuesday night’s dinner.
Wyoming is known for its fine summer weather, so many who come to Laramie also plan to extend their visit to include time in the mountains of the Snowy Range or fishing in world-class trout streams nearby.

USA: Groundwater Solutions: Innovating to Address Emerging Issues for Groundwater Resources
Aug 8 – Aug 9 all-day

Be a part of this symposium to identify real solutions to large dilute groundwater plumes, emerging contaminants in groundwater, and other constituents that affect our drinking water supply.

All industrialized nations are confronted with remediation challenges of varying scopes and natures. That, coupled with the daunting undertaking of addressing known and as yet unknown hazards and contaminants, proves challenging for even the most responsible entities. Where can good science, regulation, and practical expectations intersect to serve the public good?

Intended to be comprehensive in approach, this symposium will create a forum where all who work in and serve the groundwater, as well as the drinking water, community can discuss and debate appropriate longer-term solutions for the evaluation and restoration of impacted and compromised groundwater. How will sharing good science and harnessing innovation lead us to develop best practices for short-term situational management when drinking water supplies are affected?

Mexico: World Energy Leaders’ Summit 2017
Sep 12 – Sep 13 all-day

World Energy Leaders’ Summits (WELS) are high-level exclusive events organised by the World Energy Council for the global energy leaders’ community to facilitate on-going dialogue on critical issues affecting the energy sector.

The Mexico City WELS will be co-hosted by Mexico’s Secretaría de Energía (SENER) and participation is by invitation only to Ministers, the Council’s Patron and Global Partner CEOs, officials and selected high-level guests. The agenda will build upon insights gained from the World Energy Council’s on-going studies, including the World Energy Scenarios, and the World Energy Trilemma. The Mexico City WELS will also feature the Trilemma Ministerial Roundtable for the World Energy Council’s Ministerial and Patron CEO community.

World Energy Leaders’ Summits provide an important milestone and build on the Council’s unique ability to convene this powerful energy leaders’ community to address issues and challenges in a targeted regional context, most recently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October 2015 and at the 23rd World Energy Congress in October 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey.
