WSP Aviation Expert to Present at Urban Infrastructure Conference

NEW YORK, NY – Indhira Figuereo, vice president and Northeast aviation principal at WSP USA, will participate in a panel discussion on airport development as part of the second annual Transportation & Infrastructure Construction forum to be held on June 6 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.

The conference highlights the current construction boom resulting from the New York metropolitan area’s need for modern and expanded bridges, ports, tunnels, roads and airports. Ms. Figuereo and the other panelists will address New York’s shifting infrastructure requirements in response to population growth as well as budgetary and policy changes.

The panel in which Ms. Figuereo will participate, “Airport Development – Transforming the Region’s Airports for the Future,” will address projects currently under way to modernize and enhance operations and the passenger experience at the New York metropolitan region’s three major airports as well as additional steps that need to be taken to maintain state-of-the-art airport facilities well into the future.

The panel will also discuss the use of the design-build method of project delivery for airports, including at LaGuardia Airport, where WSP in joint venture is the designer to LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the public-private partnership building the new Central Terminal B.

 Ms. Figuereo will discuss how project procurement methods are changing in the aviation industry and how airport authorities are addressing capability enhancements. She will also present her views of the technologies, challenges and innovations that will shape the future of the aviation industry.

Ms. Figuereo has extensive experience as a project manager, program/construction manager and civil engineer for aviation facilities throughout the Northeast. She has managed major projects at LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark-Liberty International Airport, and Westchester County Airport.
