Renowned Architecture Firm EAA – Emre Arolat Architecture Wins Multiple Architectural Review Future Projects Awards Presented at MIPIM
NEW YORK – Internationally renowned, award-winning architectural firm EAA-Emre Arolat Architecture, known for producing relevant and contemporary architecture around the world, has received two Architectural Review Future Projects awards, and one commendation. The prestigious publication presented the awards to the firm at their annual dinner, held during MIPIM, the international property conference, on March 14th, 2018. The award dinner took place at the JW Marriott, Cannes.
The firm’s state-of-the-art Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture won the Cultural Regeneration Category, and the Nibras Residential and Commercial Complex won the Residential Category. In addition, the Mau Religious Complex received a commendation in the Civic and Community Category.

The Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, winner of the Cultural Regeneration Category, was transformed from an existing warehouse building into a contemporary arts museum. The museum is able to house 15,000 pieces, including some of the most important examples of Turkish art. The original concrete structure of the building was kept as is, while the walls and the slabs were removed in order to obtain a 3D, naked structural grid housing the ‘containers’ of the new museum, where the artwork resides.
The Nibras Residential and Commercial Complex in Oman, winner of the Residential Category, is an intermediary settlement between Western and Omani cultures; representing a diversity of spatial styles integrated into a neighborhood with a central piazza. Taking the site of a former equestrian center surrounded by villas and small apartments, the mixed use development comprises 78 courtyard apartments, 88 townhouses, and 26 garden villas arranged along an elliptical central space.
The Mau Religious Complex, also in Turkey, which received a commendation in the Civic and Community Category, is a place of worship bringing Islam, Christianity, and Yazidi together in one structure. To that end, the space aims to embody the essence of spirituality, allowing each religion to be themselves in their chosen space while simultaneously sharing a common experience with other worshipers.
The MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards honors architectural excellence in unbuilt or incomplete projects around the globe selected across 11 categories. The awards are presented annually at the MIPIM Conference in Cannes, France.
