NARUC Recognizes Fix-A-Leak Week, March 19-25
WASHINGTON–The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and its members encourage communities across America to recognize the week of March 19-25, 2018, as Fix-A-Leak Week.
Now in its tenth year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense initiative promotes water efficiency and conservation by reminding all Americans to check their household fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks. Household leaks are responsible for more than 1 trillion gallons of water wasted annually.
NARUC has asked all state utility commissions to participate in this effort through press releases, social media campaigns and links to the WaterSense website, all of which provide important information to help citizens become more water efficient. The Association joined the initiative in July 2008 and has supported the program each year.
“Water is essential for human survival—it’s also the only regulated utility that goes in and on our bodies,” said NARUC President John Betkoski III. “Collectively, we all need to give more thought to how we use water and how to conserve this precious resource. NARUC is pleased to support this campaign.”
At the recent NARUC Winter Policy Summit in Washington, D.C., NARUC once again passed a resolution urging all of its members to endorse this initiative. The resolution is available at http://bit.ly/FALW2018Resolution.
