Joe North Joins HNTB in Tallahassee as Senior GIS Analyst

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2017) – Joe North joined HNTB Corporation as senior geographic information systems analyst, based in the firm’s growing Tallahassee office. He is responsible for providing direction to HNTB’s West Florida team on the most effective GIS technology to improve the project life-cycle process, from planning to design, construction, maintenance, and most recently, to emergency management pre-event planning and post-event recovery.

North has more than 20 years of experience in geospatial analyses, geodatabase design, GIS project management, and GIS applications and infrastructure. During his career, he has gained experience in project management, environmental science, geolocation and GIS software.

“Joe has demonstrated a high degree of technical excellence throughout his career, becoming highly skilled in multiple aspects of his profession,” said Craig Toth, PE, HNTB Group Director. “As HNTB continues to grow in support of Florida’s infrastructure needs, his expertise will serve as a crucial resource to our clients.”

Prior to joining HNTB, North served as agency GIS manager – environmental health program for the Florida Department of Health in Tallahassee. In this position, he provided staff leadership, represented the agency in GIS leadership roles and served as an administrator for GIS software. North’s career also has included GIS positions with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from Florida State University.
