Los Angeles, CA, NYSE, TSX:STN: Vida (Covington) Mannings has joined Stantec as a Transit Advisory Sector Leader for the US West. For the past 25 years, Mannings has worked for public sector transit agencies. She has played an integral role on teams that have built and developed some of the most progressive transit systems in the US, positively impacting millions of people.

In her new role at Stantec, Mannings will assist Stantec’s transportation clients throughout North America with transit system planning and design, program implementation, operations, maintenance, public outreach, and staffing. Her experience includes fixed route and paratransit operations, administration, security, customer service, maintenance, and customer outreach.

“We are excited to bring Vida to the Stantec team in the US West,” says Sasha Pejcic, Stantec’s Transit Advisory Lead. “Her years of experience in the public sector gives our team a unique perspective. Additionally, Vida’s experience is a perfect fit for bringing agencies together on rail, autonomous vehicle, and commuter projects.”

Mannings was part of the team in Charlotte, North Carolina, that designed and delivered the state’s first light rail system. This system was among the first of its kind in the Southeast. She also was part of the Central Puget Sound RTA, overseeing the compilation of the agency’s Service Implementation Plan in 2013. This effort resulted in 30 million total passenger boardings and up to 886,000 annual express bus, commuter rail, and light rail platform hours.

Stantec is an industry leader in community development and transportation services. California projects include the California High Speed Rail and GoMentum Station, the largest secure testing facility for connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles (CV/AV) in the US and a Department of Transportation designated AV “proving ground.” In her new role, Mannings will bring agencies together to align multiple transit modes, ensure the provision of special services for seniors and disabled riders, integrate future shared autonomous vehicles (SAV) into systems for first and last mile services, and help move public opinion toward accepting public transit as the primary mode of transportation in metro areas.
