Projects Worth US$ 5.4 Billion in Kuwait are in the Bidding Stage and About to be Awarded
Kuwait’s market has seen healthy project awards of US$ 4.6 billion in the first quarter of this year and is expecting another US$ 5.4 billion worth of projects that are in the bidding phase to be awarded by the end of the year.
Following the announcement of the ‘New Kuwait’ vision and national development plans, Advanced Conferences & Meetings partnered with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning & Development, Ministry of Electricity & Water and Kuwait Institute of Science and Research (KISR) to bring you Kuwait Infrastructure Week from the 29th until the 31st of October 2017 in Kuwait City.
Kuwait Infrastructure Week will include two specialised forums “Housing & Industrial Development Forum” and “Renewable Energy & Water Generation and Treatment Forum”.
Renewable Energy & Water Generation and Treatment Forum
Kuwait is committed to generating 15% of its total energy needs by 2030 from renewable energy and is investing heavily in building solar capacity in Shagaya Park and other areas to help it achieve these targets that amount to 4.5GW of daily solar generation.
In addition, the Ministry of Electricity & Water and the Ministry of Public Works are investing in many wastewater treatment projects to name a few: The US$ 1.55 billion Umm al-Hayman Wastewater Plant Expansion, and US$ 700 million North Kabd Sewage Treatment Plant.
The government is also investing in desalination projects like Al Nwaiseeb Steam Turbines (75MIGD) and the Doha Phase II (60MIGD).
Eng. Suhaila Marafie, Director of Studies and Research Department from the Ministry of Electricity & Water will highlight the key renewable energy and water management projects and opportunities in Kuwait.
She will join other government representatives from KISR, MPW and KFAS, solar and water developers and technology providers to discuss the best ways forward to realise the additional capacity building necessary to support Kuwait’s growth plans.
Housing & Industrial Development Forum
Kuwait’s urgent requirement to deliver 100,000 houses has created a fantastic market for residential and real estate building developers. The Public Authority For Housing Welfare in Kuwait has the mandate for providing housing for 2.6 million people by 2030.
To truly understand the size, complexity and scale of this development, Sayed Al Musawi, Head of Strategic Planning, will give an update on the Authority’s extensive portfolio of projects and highlight the opportunities for developers, engineering consultants and suppliers within these.
These will require additional building materials, expertise, BIM systems, cooling, building control systems and will provide plenty of opportunities for international and local providers to contribute towards Kuwait’s rapid housing development.
The Housing & Industrial Development Forum will bring together the key government stakeholders, developers, engineering consultants and technology providers to discuss the best ways to built the future housing of Kuwait.
