BROOMFIELD, CO – Renewable Energy Systems (RES), a leader in the development, engineering, and construction of wind, solar, transmission, and energy storage projects in the Americas, and Chicago-based Goldwind Americas, a subsidiary of Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (Goldwind), a world leading wind turbine technology and energy solutions provider, are pleased to announce authorization of notice to proceed (NTP) on construction for the Rattlesnake Wind Project located in McCulloch County, Texas. The 160 MW project was acquired by Goldwind from RES in May of 2016.

The Rattlesnake Wind Project will be RES’ eighteenth wind project in the state of Texas, and the first in partnership with Goldwind Americas. The development will consist of 64 Goldwind 2.5MW Permanent Magnet Direct-Drive (PMDD) 109m turbines. Once completed, Rattlesnake will be Goldwind’s largest U.S. wind project to date.

“Goldwind Americas is proud to be working with RES to construct this milestone project, our first project in Texas and first tax equity financed project,” said David Halligan, Chief Executive Officer of Goldwind Americas.

“RES is proud to have already constructed nearly 15% of the total wind power capacity in Texas. Together, with Goldwind Americas, we are creating jobs, reducing emissions and delivering economic benefits to local communities,” said Ivor Catto, Chief Executive Officer of RES.

Rattlesnake Wind was developed and will be constructed under a Balance of Plant agreement by RES. Goldwind Americas secured financing for the project from Berkshire Hathaway Energy and Citi, a first of its kind for a Chinese wind energy technology company.

Rattlesnake was developed in coordination with local stakeholders and 32 participating landowners. The project has tax incentive agreements in place with McCulloch County, McCulloch County Hospital District, Brady Independent School District (ISD), and Lohn ISD.
