Michael Baker International Promotes Dwain Hathaway to Lead Growing Operations in Firm’s North Carolina Region

Cary, N.C. Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today announced that Dwain Hathaway, P.E., has been promoted to Vice President and Office Executive to oversee operations of the firm’s North Carolina offices. He will help to bring Michael Baker’s full continuum of services and expertise to clients across the state.

 

Mr. Hathaway has been with Michael Baker for 14 years and brings more than 23 years of experience in transportation engineering. In his office executive role, he will lead business development and continue to grow the area’s balanced portfolio of clients, with a regional focus on surface transportation inspection and design projects. He also will manage personnel and day-to-day operations for over 100 engineers, designers, inspectors and specialists within the Cary, Asheville and Greensboro offices.

His expertise in engineering and project management provides a great foundation for this new role, as he continues to set Michael Baker apart in North Carolina.”

 

Most recently serving as Associate Vice President and Surface Transportation Manager at Michael Baker, Mr. Hathaway helped to drive regional revenue growth and served as a project manager on many notable design-build and bid-build projects. He also has provided oversight of transportation operations including the roadway design, structure design, planning, utility coordination and transportation management groups.

 

Additionally, Mr. Hathaway worked as Senior Structural Engineer and Structures Manager for The LPA group of North Carolina before Michael Baker acquired the company in 2010. He also worked in various engineering roles at Wilbur Smith Associates and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

 

Mr. Hathaway is a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of North Carolina and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering – Structures from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.
