Michael Baker International Grows Railroad and Transit Practice with Hiring of Ted Coffey as Vice President and Deputy National Market Lead

Chicago Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, today announced that Ted Coffey, P.E., has joined the firm as Vice President and Deputy National Market Lead in the Railroad and Transit Practice. In this role, Mr. Coffey will oversee Michael Baker’s East Coast railroad and transit operations, leading business and strategic development.

 

Based in Michael Baker’s Chicago office, Mr. Coffey will work directly with current and potential Class 1 railroads, transit authority clients and state DOT Multimodal Divisions, serving as the main relationship manager. As an established rail and public transit professional, he brings to Michael Baker proven capabilities in developing successful client strategies, fostering teaming opportunities and nurturing client relationships. Mr. Coffey’s strong team leadership and project management capabilities have helped him guide proposal teams and strategic partnerships.

Mr. Coffey has more than 31 years of transportation planning, design and construction experience related to freight rail, rail transit and goods movement. He has managed multimillion dollar projects and studies requiring multi-discipline efforts including: rail bridge and track design; traction power distribution; overhead catenary systems; contact rail; rail signal systems; and related yards and shops.

 

Mr. Coffey earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., and Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.
