(HARRISBURG, Pa.) Global infrastructure firm Gannett Fleming, Inc., has acquired the business of LDP Group, Inc., an electrical engineering design consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois. Effective January 1, 2017, the business now operates as LDP, a Gannett Fleming Company. The acquisition presents a world-class power team with expertise in power delivery including substations and transmission lines, transit and rail power systems, instrumentation and control, and renewable energy such as wind and solar.

“Our companies share an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction, ethical business practices, excellence in innovation, and sustainability. These values are reflected by our greatest asset – our employees,” said Robert Scaer, PE, Gannett Fleming chairman and chief executive officer. “This acquisition enables us to offer our clients the specialized expertise in power systems design that they need, in addition to the latest engineering methods and technologies that they’re accustomed to receiving from Gannett Fleming.”

The acquisition is an extension of the existing working relationship between the two firms. Gannett Fleming and LDP worked together on a 230-kilovolt substation project in New Jersey in early 2016. Following this collaboration, the two companies formed a joint venture partnership in spring 2016 and are currently working on a transmission line project.

“This acquisition is a natural step in our successful relationship with Gannett Fleming,” added Paul Young, PE, former president of LDP and newly appointed vice president and director of power services for Gannett Fleming. “Now supported by the resources of a 2,000-employee firm, we can provide a comprehensive suite of services and a broad national footprint to meet our clients’ infrastructure needs.”

LDP has offered electrical design services for nearly eight decades, providing all aspects of power delivery engineering, from feasibility studies and system analysis, to full energy systems and industrial networking design for both traditional and renewable applications. As a Gannett Fleming company, LDP continues operations from its offices in Chicago, St. Louis, Missouri, and Casa Grande, Arizona. Combined with Gannett Fleming’s offices, the firm offers comprehensive power services throughout the U.S.

LDP’s nearly 40 employees have been retained. There aren’t any immediate changes in project management or technical staff for existing LDP projects.

In operation since 1915, Gannett Fleming delivers global infrastructure solutions across more than 25 practice areas with a focus on planning, design, technology, and construction management. The firm specializes in transportation, natural resources, water, power, geospatial, and facilities projects, and was ranked #49 on ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms list in 2016. – See more at: http://gannettfleming.com/NewsRoom/NewsAndEvents/gannett-fleming-expands-power-delivery-services-with-acquisition-of-ldp-group-inc#sthash.7a3usMfG.dpuf
