WSP Global continues to shine in investor relations and corporate reporting. The firm is the 2016 recipient of the Awards of Excellence in corporate reporting in the Industrial Products and Services category, presented by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. WSP Global also received an honourable mention in electronic disclosure.

CPA Canada praised the Investors section of our website, the comprehensive information disclosed online and our impressive sustainability reporting. “The clean design and intelligent interface impressed the judges,” wrote the organization.

David Langlois, Chief Accounting and Treasury Officer and Isabelle Adjahi, Vice-president, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, received the award at a special event in Toronto on December 7, 2016.

The judges evaluated seven aspects of financial reporting:
1. Highlights/overview
2. Chair/president’s letter to shareholders
3. Annual MD&A
4. Annual financial statements
5. Supplementary disclosures (Industry related data, Corporate governance, Investor Relations, etc.)
6. General effectiveness
7. Scorecards

David Langlois commented: “This recognition is special to us because it comes as we are nearing the end of the integration of the largest acquisition we have ever completed, the 2014 acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff. At WSP, we are blessed to be supported by a team of true experts, who thrive on a desire to constantly learn and excel.”

With regards to electronic disclosure, the following elements were considered:
1. IR content
2. Navigation and usability
3. Innovation
4. Social media

Isabelle Adjahi

“We are delighted to receive this honourable mention. When I started in IR 20 years ago, the focus was on producing bulky disclosure documents and not so much on making the information available and digestible for analysts and investors. We have seen great changes in how we communicate our financial results, corporate vision, strategy and governance in the past few years,” she said.

For Isabelle Adjahi, the award is the result of continuous efforts. “Financial reporting is not simply publishing an annual report. It’s an ongoing dialogue with our investors and partners. It’s about placing the financial numbers in context.”

The Awards of Excellence in Corporate Reporting, presented annually by CPA Canada, are among the most prestigious and coveted national awards. The program has recognized the best reporting practices for more than 60 years and honours Canadian listed companies and Crown organizations.
