Michael Baker International Promotes Michael J. Conaboy to Area Executive, NY/NJ

Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, planning and consulting services, announced  today the promotion of Michael J. Conaboy, P.E., to the newly created position of area executive, NY/NJ, within the company’s Northeast Region. Michael Baker’s Northeast Region consists of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

Mr. Conaboy, who has worked for Michael Baker since 1994, most recently served as vice president and office executive – New Jersey, with offices in Hamilton and Newark, for Michael Baker. As area executive, NY/NJ, he adds New York City, White Plains and Rensselaer to his responsibilities. He will oversee a full-service operation that includes professionals in planning, traffic/ITS, GIT, water, environmental, civil/highway, architecture, structures, geotechnical, pavement, and construction management.  He also will be responsible for managing projects, clients, marketing, team member development, and financials for the combined New York/New Jersey operation.

Mr. Conaboy will be based in Hamilton, N.J., and will report to Mr. Brescia.

Mr. Conaboy has more than 26 years of experience in the engineering industry, including 22 years of service with Michael Baker.  He started working with Michael Baker in the firm’s Alexandria, Va., office, where he contributed to FEMA projects.  He then joined the company’s New Jersey operation, where he served on projects in roles of increasing responsibility. Projects included work in flood studies; drainage design; stormwater management; National Environmental Policy Act documentation; environmental permitting; project management of highway projects; director of engineering and quality management; and operations manager, before accepting the position of office executive.

“I see tremendous opportunities ahead for Michael Baker in New York and New Jersey as a result of this newly combined operational footprint,” Mr. Conaboy said. “I look forward to leading this effort to leverage both our operational efficiencies and the exceptional talents of our team members to grow this market more aggressively.”

Mr. Conaboy also has contributed his time to multiple professional organizations, including membership in: the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC); Engineers Without Borders; and the association of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers.  He also has served as an adjunct professor of hydrology and hydraulics for graduate-school programs at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Conaboy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a Master of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
