Gannett Fleming Names Vaghti Corporate Sustainability Officer

As part of the firm’s commitment to providing sustainable outcomes, Gannett Fleming has appointed Stewart S. Vaghti, PE, CFM, LEED® AP, Corporate Sustainability Officer (CSO). Based in the Phoenix, Arizona, office, he also serves as a senior project manager and project engineer.

As CSO and a leader of the firm’s Corporate Sustainability Team, Vaghti will work to advance Gannett Fleming’s sustainable initiatives and practices. The firm has a goal of having 100 employees registered to take the Envision™ rating system training to become Envision™ Sustainability Professionals by the end of 2016, and Vaghti’s leadership will assist the company in achieving this goal.

In his role as senior project manager, Vaghti has used his engineering, planning, and design skills to create world-class infrastructure projects for clients. He has worked on a number of noteworthy dam, storm drainage, erosion and sediment control, water and sewer main, and wastewater treatment facility assignments. One of the most recent high profile projects Vaghti led was the Tempe Town Lake Dam in Tempe, Arizona – one of the largest dams of its kind in the world, featuring eight hydraulically operated steel gates.

With 16 years of service to Gannett Fleming, Vaghti is a registered professional engineer in California, Arizona, Utah, Washington, Hawaii, and Kansas. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Northern Arizona University.

Named a senior associate of Gannett Fleming in 2014, Vaghti is a member of the United States Society on Dams, the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, and The Geoprofessional Business Association. He also was selected among the “Top 20 Under 40” by ENR Southwest in 2014.
